Cory Wong - Lost in the Wonder

Cory Wong might just be your new favorite guitar player. The Minneapolis-based musician has put in his time as a versatile composer, arranger, producer, and collaborator. Most well known as the guitar player with the fast-rising funk band Vulfpeck; he’s also been seen playing alongside the likes of Ben Rector, Gene Simmons, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Bootsy Collins. His expert playing and diverse influences have kept him in demand around the world and around the clock, but he has finally jumped into the spotlight with his own band. Cory’s remarkable synthesis of the MPLS SOUND with his own brand of funky multimedia and unique visual aesthetic has reached its apex with this forthcoming tour, which finds his Stratocaster chops spotlighted amongst the expert production, both video and audio. Produced in Minneapolis, the album tracks were recorded simultaneously with the footage that goes on to form the remarkable centerpiece of the Cory Wong visual experience. His live show is an experience of masterful musicianship and hilarious stage antics that will simultaneously make you feel motivated and immersed in a multimedia world of comedy.

Devon Gilfillian was born in a humble town outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father, also a singer and musician, immersed him in the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Otis Redding from an early age. Although he sang almost all of his life, it wasn’t until the age of 14 when he would decide to pick up the guitar and fall in love with the instrument. “Diving into Jimi Hendrix and Allman Brothers records is how I really learned how to play guitar, and the blues.” Gilfillian decided to make the move to Nashville in 2013 to serve with AmeriCorps, which conveniently put Music City in his back yard. He first got his feet wet with the delta blues cover band “Black Cat Crossing” for whom he sang lead vocals and played rhythm guitar, covering Elmore James, Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williams, and other great Blues idols. However, he quickly realized that covering other artists' songs was not enough. Pulling from his blues and soul roots, Gilfillian took his ideas to the woodshed and is put together his self-titled EP that is now available for all ears.
