The Murph Challenge is a CrossFit workout created to honor Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a U.S. Navy SEAL who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. The workout consists of: 1-mile run 100 pull-ups 200 push-ups 300 air squats 1-mile run Participants can complete the exercises partitioned (broken into rounds) or straight through. The traditional version is performed wearing a weighted vest (20 lbs for men, 14 lbs for women). The workout is done for time and typically takes between 36-46 minutes. The Murph Challenge is held annually around Memorial Day as a fundraiser for the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The event happening on May 23 at EPIC Central on the Grand Lawn will allow participants to complete this challenging workout to honor fallen service members.
