Performing
"I want to play the piano the way Link Wray plays the guitar" Spinning tall tales of folklore, myth, urban legend and conspiracy theory through the kaleidoscope eye of soul, rock & roll and pre-war r&B, Harvey McLaughlin’s piano playing (and guitar slinging) antics have been ever present in the San Antonio music scene for the better part of the last twenty years. Be it in the dark instrumental horror surf outfit, the Sandworms (2008-2015); the jump blues psychobilly extravaganza of the Hares (2012-2016); or, more recently, joining the legendary Austin/SA cowpunk ensemble, the Hickoids – McLaughlin’s raucous style and swagger spreads wide. His two full length albums, Tabloid News (2018) and Rascality (2020), are available via Saustex Records. He’s currently playing in the aforementioned Hickoids, as well as keyboards for the Chicano soul revival, Eddie & the Valiants.
