This SXSW Jeff Plankenhorn, releases Sleeping Dogs produced by Scrappy Judd Newcomb following his critically acclaimed SoulSlide. While Plank still possess much of the soul and blues influences that have been a staple of his previous recordings, his 5th album places him solidly back in the Americana set and highlights his prowess as a songwriter to watch. Long recognized as an ‘A list’ sideman and multi instrumentalist for luminaries such as Joe Ely, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bob Schneider, Plank now stands out as a seasoned artists along side his contemporaries. And as a tireless performer, Plank has established himself as a household name in Austin working with the likes of The Apostles of Manchaca, The Purgatory Players, and the Resentments in addition to his song driven folk-solo appearances and his slide-guitar heavy rock ‘n’ roll/soul shows with the band.
