Performing

Classic rock riffs, swirling drums, monstrous hooks, and undeniably catchy choruses... hints of old school progressive rock mixed in with modern alternative flourishes... touches of classical influence as swelling strings intersect with sonic adrenaline rushes. It's indeed a fusion unlike any other, marking the latest chapter in the continuous evolution of Skillet, whose moniker couldn't be more fitting for their explosive new Lava/Atlantic Records release, Comatose. The project follows Skillet's 2004 Lava/Atlantic debut, Collide, which launched the group into the public eye with the single "Savior" (the #2 most added at CMJ's "Loud Rock and Crucial Spins" panel the first week out), and garnered the quartet a prestigious Grammy Award nomination. Collide went on to become their best-selling project to date, with over 200,000 units sold, while the band played some 200 dates a year - including tours with the likes of Saliva, Shinedown and Finger Eleven, Three Days Grace - in the process becoming one of the hardest working, heaviest rocking, and most broadly appealing acts of its generation [Skillet.com/low] Band Bio Skillet's music is a mixture of hard rock, funk, punk, metal and industrial fused together with pure energy, and a strong love for the Lord, all thrown together in the pan! They formed as a group back in the late '90's, and have produced many popular albums in their music ministry, much to the delight of their youthful fans, who not only get to enjoy fine hard rock music, with interesting sparkles of funk and punk, but also are encouraged, enlightened, fed with Christian messages about the Gospel, which point to Jesus. Vocalist and Bassist John Cooper is the only remaining member from the bands early years with the addition of Korey Cooper (married to John)on Keys/Guitar and BGV, Lorey Peters on drums and Ben Kasica on guitars Skillet released their sixth studio album "Comatose" on 3rd October 2006. They play at Kingdom Bound Every Year with Bands like Emery, Pillar, and others.. -----Wiki's Bio on them----------- Skillet is a Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in the mid-90s. It is composed of John Cooper on vocals and bass, his wife Korey Cooper on keyboards, guitar and vocals, Ben Kasica on guitar, and Lori Peters on drums. They span the musical genres from grunge to techno, industrial to guitar-driven anthematic metal. They were heavily influenced by the bands Mortal and Fold Zandura. First hitting the CCM scene in 1996, Skillet originally had three members: John Cooper, Trey McClurkin (drums), and Ken Steorts (guitar). The line-up was the same on their second CD. With their third CD, John's wife Korey joined the band in the keyboards, Ken Steorts left the band and Kevin Haaland stepped in. Soon after the release of Invincible however, Trey McClurkin also left, and Lori Peters took his place on the drums. Kevin Haaland left the band before Alien Youth, and Ben Kasica took over on guitar. Members John Cooper - lead vocals, bass (1996-present) Korey Cooper - guitar, keyboard, backing vocals (1999-present) Ben Kasica - guitar (2001-present) Jen Ledger - drums (2008-present) Former Members Ken Steorts - guitar (1996 - 1999, founder of Visible School in Memphis, TN, a music and worship arts college) Trey McClurkin - drums (1996 - 2000) Kevin Haaland - guitar (1999 - 2001) Faith Stern - keyboards, backing vocals (2002 - 2003, live shows only) Chris Marvin - guitar, backing vocals (2002 - 2003, 2005 - 2006, live shows only) Drea Winchell - keyboard (2005 - 2006, live shows only) Lori Peters - drums (2000 - 2008) Skillet are an active Chrsitian band that believe they can express their views on God/praise him etc through there music. They have a huge secular fan base aswell as Christian and other religions. They are a far far far cry from church band though and through there rock influenced music they tackle gritty subjects in their songs. Listen at Last.fm
