The Game

Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) is an extremely rich and successful investment banker, estranged from his ex-wife, younger brother Conrad (Sean Penn), and haunted by the suicide of his father. On his 48th birthday - the exact age that his father had killed himself - Nicholas is unexpectedly invited by Conrad to a birthday dinner. There, Conrad excitedly tells him about Consumer Recreation Services, a mysterious company that holds 'games' for its clients, and says that a recent CRS game changed his life. A reluctant Nicholas agrees to sign up and visits CRS, but is rejected from its pool of applicants. Annoyed, Nicholas goes about his normal routine but suddenly finds himself the target of strange occurrences. The anchor on the TV news show that he's watching begins talking directly to him, a clown mannequin appears in his house with a key in its mouth, someone breaks into his mansion and spray paints enigmatic graffiti on his walls, and armed gunmen begin tracking his movements. Soon Nicholas is on the run, hunted by shadowy agents working together as part of a sinister conspiracy. And the 'Game' that he's involved in becomes a desperate struggle for survival.
