Early approval from Timbaland and Drake boosted the career of Bryson Tiller, a contemporary R&B songwriter and singer -- a self-termed "trap soul" artist who also raps -- from Louisville, Kentucky. Tiller made waves with SoundCloud uploads like "Don't," "Break Bread," "Let 'Em Know," and "Sorry Not Sorry." "Don't," a sparse ballad, was given an official release in May 2015. Around the same time, Tiller was featured on Kam Wil's "I Want You" and Tyrant's "Lime Light." While social media activities fueled speculation regarding Tiller's affiliation with Drake's OVO Sound label, the artist opted to sign with major-label RCA, home to Tinashe and Miguel. T R A P S O U L, his debut album, was released in October 2015.

Majid Jordan is a Canadian R&B duo, composed of Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman. They are signed to OVO Sound, the record label co-founded by rapper Drake, producer Noah "40" Shebib and Oliver El-Khatib. Jordan, originally from Toronto, and Majid, arriving in Toronto by way of Bahrain, met as students at the University of Toronto in 2011. Working between Ullman's dorm room and his parents' basement, they launched their first joint EP titled Afterhours on SoundCloud under the pseudonym Good People.

Tyrone William Griffin Jr. (born April 13, 1985), known professionally as Ty Dolla Sign, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He first gained major recognition in 2010 for his feature on YG's "Toot It and Boot It", which he had written and produced for Def Jam Recordings. In the summer of 2013, he signed a record deal with Wiz Khalifa's Taylor Gang Records. In November 2015, he released his debut studio album, Free TC, which peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard 200.
