Shot on location in Spain, the production became so big that the film was eventually split into two installments, with The Four Musketeers rounding out the story in 1974. Lester’s The Three Musketeers is a perfect companion piece to the 1948 version, contrasting a grittier European style with the gorgeous story book Technicolor of the earlier MGM film. This presentation will feature a newly recorded video discussion with the film’s producer, Ilya Salkind (Superman: The Movie). Tickets are $5 and free for Modern members.
