A three-time DownBeat Critics Poll Rising Star Pianist, Miwa is celebrated for her powerful technique, lyrical sensitivity, and electrifying trio performances. Her 2021 release Songs of Joy reached #1 on national jazz radio charts and was named one of the year’s best jazz albums by DownBeat. About Ahmad Jamal: Ahmad Jamal was one of the most influential jazz pianists and composers of the 20th century, celebrated for his sophisticated use of space, dynamics, and understated swing. Emerging in the 1950s, Jamal developed a distinctive minimalist style that profoundly influenced generations of musicians, including Miles Davis, who frequently cited him as a major inspiration. His landmark 1958 live album At the Pershing: But Not for Me became a breakout success, featuring the iconic rendition of “Poinciana.” Other notable recordings include The Awakening, Live at the Montreal Jazz Festival 1985, and Blue Moon.
